Councilmen Robert Saunders and Christopher Crews are hosting a joint District 2 & 5 meeting tonight, Thursday, July 15th, at 6pm.
The meeting will be held at the Village Chapel (formerly Red Mountain Church)located on the corner of 4th Avenue South and 19th Street.

IrondaleToday: I’ve got several questions but first there was a controversial vote at the last city council session. A resolution was brought forward that essentially mimics the recent Arizona law regarding illegal immigration.
“In hard times, act like times are hard,” Birmingham News columnist John Archibald wrote of a recent trip taken by Irondale city officials to the International Council of Shopping Centers’ Global Retail Real Estate Convention (”Some things just don’t make sense,” June 9). Indeed, times are hard, but the last thing city representatives should do is let opportunities pass by for the sake of political appearances.
District Five Councilman Christopher Crews is hosting a community meeting of the Roebuck Plaza area on Monday June, 7th.
On the agenda is nominating candidates to be Neighborhood Watch President and discussion of other area issues.

Irondale residents and others will gather Saturday to celebrate the cit’s history at the 18th annual Irondale Whistle Stop Festival.
The event includes live entertainment, historical displays, children’s activities, vintage fire engines, food vendors and other attractions.
Magic City Ballet opened its studio doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Sunday August 23rd.
There are two fewer council seats on the Irondale City Council than in years past and 10 residents are vying to fill those spots.
Municipal elections will be Aug. 26.
