Trinity Medical Center gets green light to relocate to Irondale

Trinity Medical Center won state approval today to relocate from eastern Birmingham to Irondale.

The hospital, formerly Montclair Baptist Medical Center, has been fighting for the $316 million project since it applied for a Certificate of Need in November 2006. Its opponent, Brookwood Medical Center, argued before the State Certificate of Need Review Board that Trinity’s move would abandon vulnerable patients in eastern Birmingham and hurt Brookwood’s business.
