Dallas Taylor, a recent graduate of Shades Valley High School and Theatre Academy, has been awarded two prestigious national scholarships.
The Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School in Irondale has been named the second top school in the nation by Newsweek magazine. JCIB is stationed on the campus at Shades Valley High School and has been listed among the top schools in the nation by Newsweek in years past, including in 2005 when the school was named the top school in the nation.
The Shades Valley Booster Club is starting the 2010-2011 year with its first meeting tonight, Thursday, June 10, at 6:00 p.m. in the Shades Valley fieldhouse.
Three senior players from Shades Valley’s Volleyball team recently signed to play for elite college teams.
Shades Valley Theatre Academy presents its final Main Stage show of the season, “The Wiz.”. According to program director, Roy Hudson the show “is big, bold, colorful and not to be missed.”

The junior varsity boys soccer team battles Hewitt-Trussville High School at 5:30pm.
The Shades Valley baseball team plays Oxford High School at 4:30pm in a make up game.
The junior varsity softball team takes on Carver High School at 5pm.
At 7pm the varsity girls soccer team travels to Hewitt-Trussville High School
Both the junior varsity and varsity Shades Valley softball teams travel to Chelsea High School for a games beginning at 4:30 .
The junior varsity boys soccer team battles Mountain Brook High School at 5pm.
The Shades Valley track team will be participating in the Mountain Brook Invitational Track Meet.
The varsity girls soccer team plays Gadsden High School at 5:30PM. The varsity boys also battle the Gadsden High School boys at 7:30PM.
The Shades Valley varsity softball team travels to Huffman High School this afternoon for a 4:30 game. Also at 4:30 the Mountie baseball team takes on Clay-Chalkville High School.
