IrondaleToday.com recently sat down with Irondale City Councilman Robert G. Saunders. Saunders represents District 2 which contains most of Irondale’s historic south side. Saunders was elected in August 2008.

Th Irondale City Council will meet tonight, Tuesday, February 2nd, at 7:00 PM. The Pre-Council meeting begins at 6PM.
The Irondale City Council tonight voted unanimously to pass a $15 million general fund budget and a $1.9 million water system budget, both with positive balances after expenses.
Under Councilman Craig Sanderson’s resolution, the mayor would have had options including reaching a settlement with the hospital and Daniel Corp. to pay off the debt, reaching a payoff arrangement with bond holders or filing for Chapter 9 bankruptcy in federal court.
The rest of the council — including Alexander — voted against the resolution that would have given the mayor those powers instead of the council.
Crews says he provides props as diverse as parts of major scenes at the dinosaur exhibit at McWane Science Center to a costume of the state of Alabama for a television commercial. Apparently he’s done a lot more, too, because his warehouse is populated with such surprises as two Oscar statues taller than a man, a British-style phone booth and a full-size Holstein
